The American Association of Certified Orthoptists (AACO), established in 1940, is the professional association for orthoptists in the United States. 

The AACO is run by orthoptists, for orthoptists.

AACO Leadership

Its mission: to provide continuing education to its members, to assist members in their professional practice, to improve the care of children and adults with disorders of binocular vision and ocular motility, and to promote orthoptics as a profession.

Honors and Awards: acknowledging our brightest stars

The AACO meets annually in conjunction with the American Academy of Ophthalmology to offer a scientific program for orthoptists, orthoptic students and ophthalmologists, to provide continuing education for orthoptists, and to conduct the business of the association
