Orthoptic Technician

The orthoptist will provide comprehensive clinical sensorimotor evaluation and visual assessment of ophthalmology patients with ocular motility dysfunction and will plan and implement treatment programs for selected patients based on evaluation results. In addition to assisting in ophthalmology clinics, the orthoptist will see patients separately in a strabismus/amblyopia clinic. Essential Job Functions:
Qualifications:
Experience: Must have clinical training from an AOC accredited Orthoptic Program and have worked with children in the past. Prior experience in clinical practice as an orthoptist and/or clinical experience in an academic medical center is an advantage but not required. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Good hearing and visual acuity are required. Must be able to physically assist patients to and from examination chairs. Must be able to assist visually impaired patients. Must have manual dexterity to work with ophthalmic equipment. |
