Children’s National Hospital is ranked among the best pediatric hospitals in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. Our Ophthalmology Department is seeking a full-time orthoptist to work side by side with our 8 pediatric ophthalmologists and two orthoptists at our main campus in Washington, DC. We are the largest pediatric ophthalmology clinic in the DC area and take care of patients from the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. We are affiliated with Georgetown University and George Washington University. Three different ophthalmology residency programs rotate through us, and we are proud to be the oldest pediatric ophthalmology program in the country. Job duties include patient intake with history and workup, including and testing as needed (VA, stereo assessment, angle measurements/motility exams, objective / subjective refraction, VF, fundus photos, etc.), sensorimotor evaluation of pediatric and adult strabismus patients and amblyopia management. The possibility to hold orthoptic clinic exists depending on the candidates’ experience. We look for a team player who demonstrates dependability and great communication skills, is driven and well organized while interested in teaching fellows and residents. We support continuing education including AAPOS/AAOC conferences and participation in local ophthalmology meetings/Journal Club along with a very attractive benefit package.
