MEETINGS/COURSES
At least 10 out of 45 hours of CE must be from “attendance” at meetings in CORE topics. In-person credits [attendance] for virtual meetings and live webinars will be allowed with the requirements listed below:
- 1:1 credit for attendance at AACO, AOC®, FOREA, AAPOS, and NANOS
- 1:1 noncore credit for IJCAHPO intermediate and advanced courses; no credits for basic level courses.
- 1:1 credit will be given for attendance at foreign meetings if sponsored/approved by recognized orthoptic or ophthalmology organizations (examples: IOC, COC, TCOS, CLADE, PAAO, ISA, ESA, WSPOS, IPOSC).
The American Orthoptic Council® (AOC®) grants Core Continuing Education (CE) credits for courses of continuing education which align with the advanced education and training of an orthoptists.
Courses designed for technicians and technologists typically do not offer the depth of knowledge required for orthoptic practice, however, noncore credits will be given for intermediate and advanced level IJCAHPO courses.
*Ophthalmologist sponsored meetings that are not sponsored by above listed groups and without prior AOC® CE approval are eligible for 1:4 credits. Attendees must list courses, speakers and proof of attendance. Core topics must be taught by orthoptists, physicians or PhDs.
