VCU Health System's Ophthalmology Clinic is seeking a full time Orthoptist that works adjunctively and exclusively with ophthalmologists who specialize in strabismus. He/she assesses visual function and neuromuscular eye anomalies allowing physician to expand services and maintain quality.


  • Performs complete sensorimotor evaluations, pre and post op strabismus measurements and address complaints relating to binocular function.
  • Accepts referrals from within the practice or from the local medical community under supervision of an Ophthalmologist.
  • Treats non-surgical disorders of ocular motility and binocular vision.



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Eligibility for Certified Orthoptist (CO) Certification test required and certification obtained within eighteen (18) months of hire
  • Orthoptist Certification (CO) after six (6) months of hire
  • Minimum of two (2) years' work experience in an ophthalmology office


  • Current Certified Orthoptist (CO) Certification
  • Minimum of four (4) years' of work experience in an ophthalmology office
